چکیده

Most reported work on transient ̄uid/structure interaction (FSI) in liquid®lled pipes has been carried out in the time domain. When needed, information in the frequency domain (e.g., frequency responses) has been deduced by discrete Fourier transforms. In this paper, the analysis is undertaken directly in the frequency domain and has the advantage of enabling (linear) dispersive terms to be included in a fully coupled manner. In principle, time-domain results (e.g., pressure histories) can be obtained by numerical inverse Laplace transforms. In both domains, the mathematical model has one pair of equations for each mode of wave propagationÐe.g., pressure waves in the liquid, ̄exural waves in the pipe. Axial FSI coupling exists in the equations and also in boundary conditions. The development used herein highlights common features between analysis in the frequency domain and analysis by the method of characteristics (MOC) in the time domain. A general formulation, not restricted to pipe systems, is presented. The method is validated by comparison with an alternative exact analytical solution, with results obtained by discrete Fourier transform from an MOC analysis and by comparison with measured data from a laboratory apparatus. # 1999 Academic Press

Numerical and Experimental Analysis of Forming Rectangular Copper Pipes by Successive Rolling of Round Pipe Filled With Bismuth

Because of their wide application in industries requiring high pressure and temperature, manufacturing square and rectangular pipes have attracted more attention than ever before. There are various methods such as extrusion, tensile and stress for manufacturing square pipes. Another method on which studies have focused in recent years is the re-forming of round pipes in order to turn them into ...

Size-dependent Vibration and Instability of Magneto-electro-elastic Nano-scale Pipes Containing an Internal Flow with Slip Boundary Condition

Size-dependent vibrational and instability behavior of fluid-conveying magneto-electro-elastic (MEE) tubular nano-beam subjected to magneto-electric potential and thermal field has been analyzed in this study. Considering the fluid-conveying nanotube as an Euler-Bernoulli beam, fluid-structure interaction (FSI) equations are derived by using non-classical constitutive relations for MEE material...

Rb Neural Networks in the Em Measurements of Flow through Partially Filled Pipes

A novel way of measuring a portion of the pipe’s crosssection Þlled with liquid (PPCSFWL) and ßow-rate of liquid through partially Þlled pipes, based on electromagnetic method, is proposed. The technique developed is valid for laminar ßow and cylindric pipes. The measuring method, based on nonlinear relationships between the PPCSFWL and the measured signals, is developed and utilizes an optimal...

Health Monitoring of Welded Steel Pipes by Vibration Analysis

In the present work, structure health monitoring (SHM) of welded steel pipes was used to diagnosis their state via vibration based damage detection techniques. The dynamic quantities such as Frequency Response Functions (FRFs), mode shapes and modal parameters from structural vibration to detect damage were measured, set on linear averaging mode, with a maximum frequency of analysis of 3.2 kHz....
